Hi, We know that this property has a new owner and was purchased earlier this year. Due to the storms on Friday night of last week...there is a lot of debris blocking the ditch and culvert. We are expecting rain again tomorrow and this weekend. Can the city contact the new owners to come and clean up their culvert and ditch along High street before the impending rains this weekend? This affects the whole neighborhood and will cause backups of water. Thank you.

We have cleaned the tops of the grates in front of our building but can not clean the culvert in the ditch, which is clogged with debris. We also have one grate that has erosion barrier under the grate which won't allow water to pass through as it is packed with mud. We were flooded in 2008. We were within a foot of it entering our building early last Saturday morning. Please send someone to address this issue before Friday. We can not survive another flood.

Hello - I am the homeowner at 102 South Waldron St. here in Bloomington. This past Friday my basement flooded an excessive amount (3 feet) due to water buildup on Waldron Street. This has happened 4 times over the past 6 years I have lived here because the water has nowhere to go due to the flat area at the bottom of Waldron Street. I am requesting a storm drain be installed on Waldron Street just North of my house and in front of 100 South Waldron Street. My neighbors basement has also been severely flooded over the years due to water buildup from the street - the homeowners name is Simon Ladd. We both have sub pumps in our basements (I actually have 2) and it still doesn’t solve the flooding issue. I have spoken to Mr. Ladd and we both agree the best solution is for the city to install a storm drain. My number is 812-369-0765. Illegal Dumping in Drainage Easement and Common Conservation areas in Gentry South- Course construction sand (over 100 square feet and up to 10" deep) plus tree brush and other mulched woody material, large insect ridden sawed cut logs (including 47" logs), small rock and trash items have been dumped into the drainage easement area behind my house. The area that serves to hold flood water is being filled in, invasives are taking hold where the sand is, and the large debris is damaging trees. I know the area was free from this for at least 6 years prior, even during record water flow. The first occurrence was in early April 2020 and happened again the next year during early April 2021. These dumps are sudden. It was free of more sand at the end of March. Then, a week later there was suddenly a large dump of sand again. I was quoted $4,000 to remove the first dump of sand. Additionally, someone has dumped what looks like yard mulch/waste twice in this neighborhood’s Common Area/Conservation Easement.

The storm drain couldn't handle all the water from the bad storm over the weekend, and the runoff created a hole behind the drain. Don't know if there's any damage, but if anything, the grate needs a thorough cleaning. Thank you!

in the back end of our property we have a storm Storm pipe set up between me and my neighbor. This past weekend we had a storm where the pipe was pushing out alot of water causing it to cave in the ground and crowding the sides of the channel. It has been causing the sides to collapse and making the channel wider taking from the land. I placed some rocks to keep the storm water from damaging the channel last year. yet We will need to add some extra rocks to hold it in place since it can't withstand the pressure as shown in the attached image. The new dog park at Switchyard is very pretty, but it lacks basic amenities to make it really useable. At the Ferguson park there is access to water in the park (not outside the gates) and it’s a spigot that can be used to fill a bowl. The setup at Switchyard makes it basically impossible to spend more than a few minutes in hot weather. Also, it looks like there was a plan to have a dog rinse area like at Ferguson, but it’s just an empty vestibule. Could you at least run a hose as a temporary measure? Especially if there are going to be permanent mud puddles right by the entrance. There’s also nowhere shaded/sheltered in the park. The pergola over the outer seating area looks cute but isn’t very practical. I’ve hiked the quarter mile with my dog on weekend days only to find no one there and had to leave basically immediately because the park is essentially unusable on a hot sunny day. Everyone is at the old park on those days.

Due to the storm on Friday night we have a lot of run off rock and old concrete from the ditches above our house on Ruby and Covenanter. Since we are the last house where the ditches turn, we get all of the debris. Can someone from the city please come and clean up our ditch (with the truck that sucks up rocks, etc.)along Ruby and Covenanter? Our front lawn grass is full of rock and mud from the flow of water on Friday night. We don't want the city to dig up our grass...we would just like them to suck up the sand, rock and black top debris in our ditches and culverts. Thank you. Sincerely, Ingrid 1104 S. Covenanter Drive
