Owner has set up a drain from the basement of this house that dumps directly on the sidewalk in front of the house. The sidewalk has been a muddy mess of standing water and a fall hazard ever since. Is this a violation of city code? It seems like it would break down the side walk over time and ,again, be a fall hazard due to the muddy mess.

Icy, snow covered sidewalk made it difficult for walking in front of Micro Motors drive. Also a problem around the corner on Grimes at the other entrance to Micro Motors.
1111 S. Washington front yard so overgrown strollers and wheelchairs cannot get over weeds that have fallen onto public sidewalk. Also may attract snakes, rodents, and other unwanted wildlife. Heightened allergy issues for neighbors, especially children.
Hi Mayor Hamilton and the city of Bloomington, I am contacting you and your office regarding the problem with the deer in our neighborhood. Once again, the deer are a problem for us and they are outright dangerous. I am not sure what the city is planning on doing with the problem, but I almost feel like I want to hire a sniper (and I am an animal lover) to get them off of our property or now purchase a BB gun. I am not a violent person, but I am at my wits end regarding this issue. Will the city only do something once a deer kills a child? I have heard of stories of dogs being killed by deer as well as homes being trashed by deer who have somehow gotten into somebody's home. The latest is that my wife got a broken ankle because of a deer and it required a trip to the ER at Bloomington hospital along with missed work for both of us. Luckily we have health insurance, but for those who don't...it is a very expensive endeavor that could have been avoided if the city would do something to cull these animals. Lately we have seen a herd of 8 deer roaming around Somax. I would like your opinion on how you plan to fix this problem because I do see this as a problem in our city and especially our neighborhood. Also, I heard that the city has a 2 million dollar surplus this year and wondered if that meant we would finally get the sidewalk and repair of the dangerous culvert that has been promised to the former owners of our house as well as to us. Our taxes go up every year (Judy Sharp just assessed another increas of $50,000 to our home value which raised our taxes again quite drastically). We can't seem to ever get a break from her with her assessments every year and it is quite frustrating. Every year we pay more and more taxes and get absolutely nothing for it. Planning Dept noticed temp sign in front of store near sidewalk
Good afternoon, I am writing to report an issue with water drainage coming from the roofs of houses and dumping on to the sidewalk. Along N. Indiana Ave, many houses/apartments (owned by Elkins Apartments) have drainage downspouts that empty directly on to the sidewalk. This creates a hazard with constant freeze and thew during the winter months. I have personally felt unsafe walking down a sloped sidewalk, on what is pure ice during periods this winter. Indiana Ave. is a very high foot traffic area during winter months as fans walk to and from basketball games. From witnessing several people slip and fall on the ice, I feel like it is my duty as a citizen to report this issue to the city. Though we have been blessed this season with relatively mild temperatures, this does not overshadow the safety hazard created from the downspouts off many of these houses. This problem would ideally need to be handled quickly before the next cold spell of weather. Thank you. Best regards
Large limbs blocking sidewalk across from 15th St on Rodgers st.
We don’t have any crosswalks for several blocks in either direction, and there are many families with young children who live in the immediate vicinity. We have a lot of traffic coming north off the bridge that are driving way too fast, and it’s extremely dangerous to cross the street here. With talk of adding curbs and repairing the sidewalk at my property, 1107 N Madison, I suggest putting a crosswalk over Madison st, on the south side of 15th. (Photo above). I regularly witness vehicles, both emergency workers and civilians, driving so fast that It is incredible dangerous to cross the street, even for an adult. A bump up crosswalk, like is being Installed on the new 17th/vernal pike, would go a long way towards slowing vehicles down and making them more aware of their surroundings. Even without a bump out sidewalk, a marked crosswalk is absolutely needed. Please respond to talk more about it!
