1401 W 8th ST

There are 4 grade schoolers and a toddler living at 1402 W 8th. Several residents in Waterman push strollers. A blind man and his service dog walk to/from his home on West 8th.
Drivers occasionally reach 50 mph on 8th street.
A "slow children" sign might slow them down.

There are two utility lights on either side of my property that are LEDs and they are so bright they shine in mine and my neighbors windows disrupting our sleep and other activities! They need to be changed to one of the amber dimmer street lights!
Blocked Sidewalk
1376 S College Mall RD
- Case Date:
- 7/31/2019
The sidewalk on the west side of College Mall Rd just north of Moores Pike there is a tree that has branches hanging to about 4-5 feet over the ground, making it so that both pedestrians and cyclists have to duck to get below it. I believe the tree is the responsibility of Gentry Quarters, but I am unable to find contact information for the company to ask them to address it. I'm hoping the city can. Thank you.

Line of Sight
1355 W Allen ST
- Case Date:
- 7/19/2020
I have called 2 times to get these 2 separate line of sight safety issues resolved. I have also filed a previous uReport case # 172894. However nothing has been done to resolve these 2 issues. I even included photos on original uReport. So I will file another uReport. The first public safety traffic issue is at the T-intersection of Allen Street and Bloomfield Rd. as you approach Bloomfield Rd. and are looking to your right. This intersection has bushes/small trees/over growth ect... and blocks your view completely. The second issue with line of sight public safety traffic hazard is when you exit Hilltop Court Apts. 1305 West Allen St. and look to your right and again your line of sight is blocked by over growth both these areas especially the first one needs trimmed way back so this problem doesn't come right back in 30 days. I am curious as to why no one has even returned a call to my cell or emails me back with the resolution ect.. Rest assured I will continue to pursue this up the ladder until it is resolved. Thank you
Biking & Walking
135 W 4th ST
- Case Date:
- 2/18/2025
Hello-
There are often cars blocking the bike lane on west bound 4th St between College and Walnut.
This was never an issue before becasue there was no bike lane here.
The most obvious solution would have been to not put a bike lane here, or to have made it protected, but since a line has been painted notating a "bike lane" I wonder if there's anything the city can do to keep cars from blocking it.
thanks!

'Light the Way' blue sign in the ROW at this location.
There are 27 of these same signs on fences and in yards within a couple of adjacent blocks along E First Street. An unnecessary proliferation of signs, if I ever saw one.

One of the purposes of UDO's section 'Signs' is 'to avoid unneccessary proliferation of signs'.
There still are close to 20 blue 'Light the Way' signs on E First Street between Woodlawn and Eagleson. The promised 'signage sweep by Planning staff' (March 18, 2025 quote) must not have taken place yet.
The sign at 1320 E First in the grass next to the sidewalk is illegal, according to the Elevate map. Property does not extend all the way to the sidewalk.
