Mr. Raff spoke with the Mayor at the Farmers Market on Saturday, 10/1. He described ongoing drainage issues on both Rose Ave and his property (704) and that of the adjacent landowner. He stated that the City has been working on the issue for a number of years, but storm water still gets backed up on the property and has lead to a mosquito problem.

The South Arbutus Drive cul-de-sac needs repaving. The pavement is eroding away in several places, the north side of the green space in the middle of the cul-de-sac has become a pothole, and previous repairs/upgrades to water and gas lines have left the street in bad shape.
Water is slowly but continuosly leaking from the house at 501 South Mitchell across the Eastside neighborhood pocket park into the storm water runoff ditch. The leak location is close to the house's sewer cleanout and so possibly a sewage leak.
The city has come out and measured several times for a culvert to be installed in front of my driveway. The problem is that the street is higher than my driveway and this house is at the bottom of a hill. When it rains all the debris from the street and houses above me come into my driveway. There is so much water that my basement can flood and the water level can easily reach several feet deep. I have at the moment blocks of stones in front of my driveway so that the debris and water keeps going down Mitchel street instead of blocking the small drainage grates that are in driveway. After the heavy storm a month ago the parking strip (city property) in front of 1725 East Hunter Ave was severely eroded with the gravel/crushed stone swept down the street and the tarmac beginning to crumble. The city installed a storm water sewer in this location a couple of years ago but it doesn't catch the surface drainage from Hunter. The upstream neighbour has heavy round river pebbles in their parking strip which seem to resist erosion. Could something like this be put in the problem area? Or is there some other solution?
Is there an issue with the water? At my residence at 824 S Eastside Dr there is no water pressure.
