Water Utility Problems

1000 S Madison ST

Case Date:
1/24/2020

The riser is damaged on our water meter pit at 1000 S. Madison. We called you guys about it several months ago (3 or 4). We were told it would be addressed asap and a CBU safety leg frame was put up over it (see attached photo). However, nothing has been done since and this is a bit of an eye sore. Will you please schedule someone to either come repair this or to just come retrieve your leg frame, as I am not happy with how it looks in my yard. Thank you in advance for your help. ~Loren Wood loren@lorenwoodbuilders.com

Huge dip in Madison street causes water to pool in my yard and in front of our house. There needs to be a drain, or water will continue to pool in my yard and flood my driveway. This issue has continued to get worse.

Pot hole is not the right word. Hatchback-swallowing sinkhole, I'm assuming leftover from last week's water main break in the same area. Extremely large, 6-8 inches deep in places. Needs filled ASAP as it is a significant safety hazard.

Trash

1310 Multiple (~10) painted tires piled in the yard. There is an ordinance to prevent this due to the toxins released into our water system by decaying tires.

Water Quality

1405 S Madison ST

Case Date:
9/16/2021

As of Tuesday, our water in our house has started to smell and taste strange, a mix between a musty and a chemical smell. It is really noticeable, and I'm concerned that something has happened that has made our water unsafe to drink suddenly. I would love for someone to come test the water or investigate this issue further as soon as possible. Thank you!

My next door neighbor has set up a unhoused encampment next door. They have unleashed dogs we can climb under the fence and there is no access to water, trash disposal, or bathroom facilities. No discussion was had with me prior to the encampment moving in and it is preventing me or my dog being able to use our backyard.

We walked by and saw clear water bubbling up from a hole in the ground near the sidewalk on the south side of the street. Seems like something is broken? Possible water main break?

Drainage or Runoff

722 W Allen ST

Case Date:
6/30/2025

Serious flash flooding in our neighborhood last night. At least 7 residential lots were affected on W Allen (6 north side of the street, 1 south side) directly west of the drainage creek that runs alongside Patterson. This has been an issue for several years, but is happening with increased frequency and severity. I've owned my house since 2012 and experienced 1 instance through 2019. Since then we've had floods covering much of my front yard at least twice a year. Last night was the 3rd instance this year and the worst I've seen. Water level reached my knees while on the sidewalk. Earlier this year, one neighbor's car was totaled due to flooding. Another had water rise up above floor level in their house a couple years ago. Previous attempts to clear brush, debris, and small blockages in the creek have had no impact. Rain garden bump outs were installed on Allen. They seem to have no impact as they run east up Allen whereas the source of flooding is the creek to the west. Utilities staff working on our block in the past have suggested culverts were too small to handle water flow. Reading the 2022 stormwater master plan, I wonder if installing a detention pond nearby might help. Instead of attaching photos, here's a video link taken at the peak of flooding last night: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/q84v292p5nk4e2a6dnqo4/Video-Jun-29-2025-9-46-38-PM.mov?rlkey=aouaax4cfgu6nnr8pvieuterj&st=o88w184x&dl=0
