Provide Your Input!
As the City of Bloomington starts to consider safety improvements on the 10th Street corridor, we want to ensure any improvements represent the community's wants and needs.
- Let us know what issues you experience on 10th Street today, and what improvements you would like to see via this online survey. This survey will close on May 1st.
- You may also email your comments to Karina Pazos, Long Range Planner, at karina.pazos@bloomington.in.gov.
Project Information
To increase safety and accessibility along the 10th Street corridor between Morton Street and Indiana Avenue, the City of Bloomington is considering improved pedestrian crossings, increased lighting, and more traffic calming options.
Project Area
- Morton Street to Indiana Avenue
- 2019 - 2024 crash history
Why 10th Street?
- Since 2018 this area of the corridor has experienced two severe traffic collisions. With a codified goal of eliminating all traffic deaths and severe injuries on City of Bloomington roadways by 2039, there is a duty to act now to improve safety for all road users.
- 10th Street is an essential connector for all residents, bridging Trades District, downtown and the Indiana University campus. In its current state, there are gaps in the pedestrian network that can be improved. All road users should be able to access these areas safely regardless of transportation mode.
Potential Benefits
- Increased safety for all road users
- Better connectivity for all road users
- Improved accessibility and pedestrian crossings
- Ultimately...a healthier and more sustainable Bloomington
