B-Line Trail at Switchyard Park Scheduled for Temporary Closing Wednesday, Re-Opening Friday

Bloomington, Ind. - Utility work in Switchyard Park will require the closure of the B-Line Trail between Grimes Lane and the west access spur at Hillside Drive from 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 17 through 8 a.m. Friday, July 19. The closure will allow for the installation of a 27" reinforced concrete pipe to channel stormwater from the parking lot at Grimes Lane.

As the pipe installation requires cutting through the asphalt on the B-Line Trail, a temporary detour will allow pedestrian and bicycle traffic to bypass the closure safely. The detour utilizes the sidewalks along Grimes Lane, Madison Street, and Hillside Drive. A short connector trail joins Hillside Drive to the B-Line Trail south of the closure area. The alternate route will be marked with B-Line Trail detour signs.

Once the pipe is in place, crews will fill in the trench and repair the cut in the B-Line Trail with cold patch asphalt to maintain the trail's accessible surface until it is permanently re-paved. The B-Line Trail will re-open to pedestrian and bicycle traffic at 8 a.m. on Friday, July 19.
