The Sanitation Department will collect Christmas trees and wreaths Monday, December 30, 2019 through Thursday, January 23, 2020.  Residents may place trees and wreaths at the curb on regular collection days.

The City of Bloomington is excited to announce that Switchyard Park will be unveiled to the public on November 16 and 17.  The largest park project in the City’s history, the 57-acre former railroad property stretching from West Grimes Lane to Country Club Road and between South Walnut and South Rogers Streets features a pavilion, a performance stage and amphitheater, skatepark, community gardens, fitness stations, basketball, pickleball and bocce ball courts, splash pad, accessible playground, bosque (formal forest), and picnic shelter; and will have the capacity to host large-scale events and festivals.  

Fourth Street Garage Demolition Progresses, Minimizing Waste Production; Three Pedestrian Infrastructure Improvements Nearing Completion

Demolition of the Fourth Street Garage continues this week. The entire east bay of the garage has been demolished and work on the west bay of the garage has begun. In order safely to collect demolition debris in the alleyway, the covered walkway in the alley has been temporarily dismantled to make room for dumpsters and safety netting.

Preparations Begin for Fourth Street Garage Demolition, Paving and Curb Painting Underway in Maple Heights

On-site preparation for the demolition of the Fourth Street Garage gets underway this week, with the installation of water barriers and temporary construction fencing around the City facility. Also, this week, lane restrictions are going into effect at the following locations: the southernmost lane on Fourth Street and a driving lane and parking lane on the west side of Walnut Street (closest to the garage).

If your normal collection day is Wednesday, your trash and recycling will be picked up on Friday this week.  If your normal collection day is Thursday, you can expect service on Saturday.
