City Announces Seasonal Water Shutoff Timeline for City Parks

The Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department announced the timeline for staff to complete the annual winterization process for restrooms, drinking fountains, and water spigots in city parks.

Water service must be shut off each fall, prior to the onset of freezing temperatures, to keep ice from damaging or breaking water supply lines and fixtures.

Oct. 17-21
Restrooms, drinking fountains, spigots, and irrigation systems shut down in the following parks: Lower Cascades ballfields;, Highland Village Park;, Seminary Park;, Schmalz Farm Park;, Broadview Park;, Waldron, Hill and Buskirk Park; Southeast Park; Miller-Showers Park; and the Skate Park at Upper Cascades Drinking fountains were shut off at the Clear Creek Trail, Rail Trail, and Crestmont Park playground as well.

Oct. 31-Nov. 4
Restrooms, spigots, and irrigation systems shut down in the following parks: Building Trades Park, Rev. Ernest D. Butler Park, Winslow Sports Complex, Sherwood Oaks Park, and Park Ridge Park. Drinking fountains were shut off along the B-Line Trail as well.

Nov. 7-11
Restrooms, spigots, and irrigation systems shut down in the following parks: Upper Cascades Park and the Lion's Den shelter; Twin Lakes Sports Park, Ferguson Dog Park, Lower Cascades Park, and Bryan Park.

Nov. 14-18
Restrooms, spigots, and irrigation systems shut down in the following parks: RCA Community Park, Park Ridge East Park, Olcott Park, Switchyard Park, and Winslow Woods Park/Willie Streeter Community Gardens.
