The City of Bloomington Offers Holiday Shoppers Free Downtown Parking for Thanksgiving Weekend and Select December Dates
To promote Small Business Saturday and to make local holiday shopping more convenient, the City of Bloomington offers free parking in all City public garages and on-street parking spaces on select dates this holiday season. Complimentary parking will be available at the Morton Street, Walnut Street, Fourth Street, and Trades District garages, as well as at on-street meters, during the following times:
-
Friday, November 29 and Saturday, November 30 – Free parking is available to support residents in their post-Thanksgiving shopping and Small Business Saturday visits to downtown.
-
Thursday, December 19 at 5 p.m. through Tuesday, December 24 – Free parking is available leading up to Christmas to accommodate residents’ holiday shopping needs.
"Small Business Saturday is a catalytic day for our local retailers—in 2023 Small Business Saturday generated $17 million in revenue nationally." says Jane Kupersmith, the City's Director of Economic and Sustainable Development. "By supporting our local small businesses, we invest in our neighbors, retain dollars in our local economy, reinforce community relationships, and help the unique character of Bloomington flourish."
