Bloomington's Living Wage Ordinance, effective January 1, 2006, requires covered employers to pay covered employees a living wage: the amount that the City of Bloomington believes is sufficient for a working family to meet basic needs in housing, child care, food, clothing, household items, transportation, health care and taxes.

In 2017 the living wage rate is $12.44 an hour, of which up to $1.87 may be in the form of health insurance available to the covered employee. In 2018, it will be $12.64 an hour, of which $1.90 may be in form of health insurance to the covered employee.

The wage is adjusted annually for inflation.
