The Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) hears and makes the final decision on requests for variances from both the development and the use standards in the Unified Development Ordinance. The BZA also hears and makes final decisions on conditional use requests. In addition, the BZA makes the final decision concerning appeals from administrative decisions.
The BZA consists of five standing members appointed either by the Mayor, Common Council or Plan Commission. The City Council and Mayor have the option to name alternates to any seat.
