Hello-- Once a week a group of us run on the Rail Trail...we are primarily a collection of faculty from IU who really enjoy the trails that P&R provide (THANKS). We are also truly a multi-generational group...with a couple of our members ALWAYS....and I do mean always....mentioning how nice they thought it was to see a plaque honoring George Heise and others near the bridge at the end of the Rail Trail. George was a longtime member of the Psychology department and a colleague/teacher for many in our group. So, they were very saddened to see that the plaque has been stolen. I've attached a picture of where it used to be, and hope you could find it in the budget to replace it. I'd appreciate a response. Thanks again. Rob

Dell Douglas called this morning to voice her concerns about bicycles on the paths and sidewalks at Bryan Park. During the past 3 years she has noticed more dangerous conditions due to the speed of bikers on the paths in the park. Most recently, she was walking far to the right on the path near the stream and a family on bicyles nearly ran into her. They were moving so quickly she was unable to say anything to them. She feels there is more disregard for pedestrians walking in the park and is afraid someone will suffer serious injury if things don't change. She would appreciate a call back from Mick after 6/14. Hello, I left a message for the Marketing person in Parks and Rec last week asking for permission to use a photo of the B-Line or Clear Creek trail. Just following up to see if someone can assist. Thank you. Mique Van Vooren ______________________________ Mique Van Vooren Communications Specialist University Human Resource Services Indiana University 812-856-4102

Hello, I live at the end of Stull Ave. There is a path between some shrubs into Bryan Park at that point. Right now it is a soil path which gets muddy and is eroding. Is it possible to have some wood chips or gravel put down? Thanks in advance for any help you can give. Regards, Jean Mayfield-Morelli

Hello, This afternoon I noticed that someone had set up an animal trap at the SE end of the lake in the Wapehani Mountain Bike Park (right next to the bridge over the stream that flows out of the lake). It's a large, spring-loaded cage. Is this something that you're aware of, or is someone trying to catch animals illegally? Best, Kasia Chmielewska

What do the numbers on the light posts along the trail represent? Is it a distance?

Hi. I'm writing as the vice-president of the Near Westside Neighborhood Association. At our meeting last night, we discussed the assault that took place on the B-Line April 7th. A question came up as to how often the section between Fairview and North Adams is patrolled. Most of us felt that we see officers more often in the sections to the east of Fairview. And now that there is no summer shelter, we're wondering how to ensure our safety when walking that part of the trail. Thaks for your help! Sophia Hauserman

What do we do if there are unneutered male dogs in the park? There have beens several instances recently at the park and an unneutered male pit bull mix was constantly trying to hump my male dog. I'm afraid of a fight breaking out. The web page says dogs must be spayed/neutered, but the rules sign posted (I'm pretty sure) does not say it's necessary. We've just had to leave every time this has happened.

Parks and recreation, I wanted to know if there is legal right-of-way for pedestrians at the south end or the rail trail where it stops at west dillman rd. The property owners have placed fencing and no trespassing signs. I simply would like clarification if easement rights apply so that I may continue to access the rail trail beyond Dillman rd. Have the property owners gained true rights by forfeit of the rail line due to disuse?

Dear Friends, I am writing to report a dog attach incident this morning about 9:05 Am on the North Shore Trail in the Griffey Lake Nature Preserve. I was walking on the trail and was approached by two unleashed dogs. The owner arrived and said the dogs were unleashed because he didn't think there were other people on the trail. One of the dogs, which looked German Shepherd like, approached me from the side and bit my right calf. The bite broke the skin. He said he was sorry and walked on. I didn't get his name, because I wanted to leave the scene because I was concerned about being bitten again. There was a single car parked on the trail head, a Pontiac Grand Am GT with an Indiana License plate 719CA2. I believe, but am not certain, that this was the dog owner's vehicle. I looked but didn't find any park personnel after the incident. My phone number is 812 345 7429 if I can provide any additional information. Sincerely, Brian O'Donnell 602 South Rose Avenue Bloomington, IN 47401
