Center lane traffic light in the east bound lane is not working. 1:35 pm Sunday May 17
Red light is out on the left lane signal to turn onto Adams from 2nd street
Lights @ 2nd & Patterson - The turn signal for northbound traffic always cycles whether anybody there or not. So, if you are traveling southbound and get to the signal to activate it and are the only vehicle there wanting to continue southbound you have to wait until the northbound lights w/turn signal cycles and you finally go green. This has been happening for the past few weeks, early morning (before 6am).
A crosswalk is essential here for ensuring safety and facilitating easier pedestrian movement.
There is a school flasher traffic light that’s blinking all night. I think it was worked on recently and now it’s blinking 24 hours a day. It’s a real nuance at night.
When trying to turn left from Kimble Dr. onto 3rd. St. it takes multiple pedestrian light cycles to recognize there is a car there. Often the main 3rd. St. light will only change if someone is trying to turn right. This has happened on many occasions with adjusting the car to register the weight sensor.
General connectivity east to west and vice versa in this town is atrocious. While folks recognize that pedestrians and bikes are vulnerable groups in forms of travel, vehicles in the Midwest for all commuters and visitors in this metro area cannot navigate well at all. It appears engineering will finally be working on a project to help timing across facilities and infrastructure in town, however PLEASE ensure coordination with the state happens because those areas are the most crucial east to west and are never prioritized or fixed. It should not take 20+ minutes to get from downtown to the west side. It is getting ridiculous. Citizens Hope this gets better especially as increased density seems to be the only desired path forward for the city. Fear it is only going to get more congested with increased travel times by vehicle.
The crossing button is vandalized and waving signal is not possible. Southeast corner of E Smith Ave and S Walnut St
Green light seems to be dead
The east-west signal at Covenanter and College Mall Rd remains a persistent problem for cyclists. The signal seems to be triggered at best by a motor vehicle presence, meaning a cyclist approaching the intersection with no car nearby has no way to get a green light except by pressing a pedestrian beg button that is not accessible from the road. This is a recurrent problem that keeps getting marked “closed” but without real evidence that the matter has been addressed successfully for east-west transportation at this intersection.
