The storm drain couldn't handle all the water from the bad storm over the weekend, and the runoff created a hole behind the drain. Don't know if there's any damage, but if anything, the grate needs a thorough cleaning. Thank you!
Hello - I am the homeowner at 102 South Waldron St. here in Bloomington. This past Friday my basement flooded an excessive amount (3 feet) due to water buildup on Waldron Street. This has happened 4 times over the past 6 years I have lived here because the water has nowhere to go due to the flat area at the bottom of Waldron Street. I am requesting a storm drain be installed on Waldron Street just North of my house and in front of 100 South Waldron Street. My neighbors basement has also been severely flooded over the years due to water buildup from the street - the homeowners name is Simon Ladd. We both have sub pumps in our basements (I actually have 2) and it still doesn’t solve the flooding issue. I have spoken to Mr. Ladd and we both agree the best solution is for the city to install a storm drain. My number is 812-369-0765. There seems to be runoff or a water pipe burst on the corner of Dorchester Drive and Hillside Drive.
Hi, The stormwater drains in this neighborhood are no longer able to process light rain. Since the Echo Park subdivision was built, we have noticed an increase in the amount of water collecting near the drains. Historically, the drains have not processed the stormwater quickly enough so the water pools in the street causing traffic and parking disruption. When it rains, the run off comes down my driveway off of High street and the parallel sidewalk and runs down my driveway pooling in front of my garage door and in turn enters my house. This will occur during a rainfall of 0.5 inch or more. Would it be possible to look at the drains on High street or add one at the top of the hill to divert water away from my driveway?
Dear City of Bloomington Representative, Last night’s torrential rain brought a lot of water down our driveway from the street, some of which eventually ended up in our finished basement. We've lived at this address since 2009, and this has been a problem we've lived with since then. We’ve spent almost $15,000 on waterproofing our basement, installing storm drains at the bottom of our driveway, halfway down our driveway, and installing a berm on top of the driveway. Still, water that runs down the Anita Street takes a hard right into our driveway and overwhelms our systems. Anita Street slopes south to north, after it has turned from the east to west slope of East 2nd street. We believe a majority of the water coming down Anita Street actually ends up in our driveway. A lot of the water from the street also collects in the yard of our neighbor, Allyson Youat Schnable. Water that has come into our basement has damaged equipment, furniture, boxes and their contents, and is a threat to our foundation. I believe we have exhausted our options to comprehensively deal with the amount of storm water that is presented to us. We would love for the city to address the water coming down the street. Our store at 512 S College Mall Road is being flooded out by water runoff that comes over the retaining wall behind the store. The water is runoff from our neighbors parking lot...a housing division.
We are experiencing a major storm water runoff problem on our property. It has become so bad that our driveway collapsed. We have also lost some trees and fear losing additional trees. In addition, a lot of trash is accompanies that large volume of water and settles on our property in what is now a muddy swamp. I think we need to work with the churches to the east of us who have huge parking lots to address the water runoff problem that is becoming worse all the time. We have lived here for nearly 40 years and the creek water has never looked this bad. Yes, after a heavy rain, it is cloudy, but it hasn't rained for over a week. The water looks very dirty and there is a bad smell, as well. Not sure if this is the department to inform. If not please pass this along. Children play in the creek and there seems to be some type of runoff or other issue that is making the water look bad. Thanks
Attn Phil/ and ED, I have doubts a foot more will be deep enough. I have heard the roar of racing water in my backyard. It has moved some of the 30 to 40 pound stones I have placed to slow the erosion. Please consider a deep ditch. Thanks
