The Outstanding Latino High School Student Award recognizes a Latino/Hispanic high school student of any MCCSC, RBB, or alternative high school. The award is given to a student who has stood out in school through an outstanding class project, a school initiative, outstanding performance on a sports team, artistic group (theater, choir, dance) or as a leader of a student club. All nominees must be entering seniors in the fall 2016 semester.

The Commission is especially interested in students who have been one or more of the following:

  1. A school representative in a local, regional or national event.
  2. An advocate for services that benefit the high school and/or Bloomington community
  3. A leader for initiatives that foster team work, community service, protection of the environment, or fundraising for social causes
  4. A participant in campaigns to avoid and eradicate racism, sexism, bullying in school, drugs/alcohol abuse and to raise awareness about pregnancy and sexual diseases in teenagers
  5. A distinguished student with excellent grades, active participation in school activities, and/or dedicated research or remarkable presentations in class about different topics.
