Council review of the proposed update to the City's Unified Development Ordinance (UDO)

The City of Bloomington Common Council is considering a proposed update to the City’s Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). The UDO contains all of the land use and development regulations that apply to construction in the City. This webpage will provide information about the Council’s review process, public meetings, and other materials related to the proposed UDO. Information will be posted and updated as the Council review process progresses. Please bookmark this page and check back frequently. 

 

Summary of previous actions/meetings

 

  • On September 23, 2019, the Plan Commission voted 9-0 to recommend adoption of an amended UDO to the Common Council. A copy of the Adoption Draft that was certified to the Common Council can be found here or attached to the right. Pursuant to state law, the Common Council will review the Adoption Draft and either adopt, reject, or amend it. For materials and information about the UDO update process from project kick-off in February 2018 until the Adoption Draft was certified to the Common Council Office on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, please visit https://bloomington.in.gov/planning/udo/update.

 

  • On October 2, 2019, the Common Council introduced Ordinance 19-24 - To Repeal and Replace Title 20 of the Bloomington Municipal Code entitled "Unified Development Ordinance”  for first reading. The Council announced that it intended to further consider the proposed UDO at future meetings and approved a schedule of meetings, which is listed below and attached to the right.

 

Upcoming meetings related to Council review of proposed UDO

Meetings will be held in the Council Chambers (Room 115 , Showers City Hall, 401 North Morton Street) and start at 6:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted below.

The Council may, if necessary, revise this schedule of meetings, which constitutes a hearing on the consideration of the UDO. These revisions may be decided at these meetings, any Regular or Special Session of the Council, or by call of the Council President. This page will be updated if the Council schedule changes.
