Mr. McGarvey, Thank you for passing along your concern. Unfortunately, at this time we have no plans to install restrooms in Sherwood Oaks or along the Jackson Creek Trail. The only facilities that have plumbed, flushing toilets are community parks. Community Parks are large parks such as Bryan Park and Olcott Park that draw patrons from the whole community. Due to cost of installation, cleaning, and maintanence, we do not construct bathrooms in Neighborhood Parks such as Sherwood Oaks. The one exception is Butler Park where the bathrooms were constructed at least 40 years ago. We only open these bathrooms now for special events. We have port-a-jons at a few locations. We place these in remote areas such as the Tapp Rd. trail head for the Clear Creek Trail, or in Community Parks to maintain bathrooms after we drain and winterize the plumbing. We are currently in the process of trying to reduce the number of locations that have Port-a-Jons. I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news. But with our current budgetary problems, we simply cannot afford to increase our contractual costs for Port-a-Jons at the present. I hope that in the future our fiscal picture will improve and we can look at expanding our services again. Respectfully, J. D.
