A "fishy" smell associated with our drinking water is a seasonal occurrence here in Bloomington. The smell is linked to algae growth in the lake. Certain algae produce harmless by-products that cause taste and/or odor issues. The severity of the taste and/or odor is directly related to the amount of algae growth in the lake. This issue will subside when the algae growth slows.
