Mr Richie left a voice message on 3/25/15 saying that in heavy rains, water rushes down Wylie and across Woodlawn and down his drive. At times it has gone into the basement. He said he is going to have his drive paved this year and he wants to know if a drain could be put in that would connect to the drain he says runs down the center of his drive.
Project to fix a problem for someone else created a problem for us - water draining poorly creating a muddy mess.

There is one problem; there is an open drainage ditch running the length of the front yard where it meets the road. I assume it is a city easement and is city maintained. I am first and foremost quite concerned about the possibility of children being injured in the ditch, and would welcome the city installing proper pipes and covering the area. I’m also concerned about any liability I might have as homeowner. How might I go about obtaining a letter from the city which states that the city is responsible for maintenance of the ditch and has liability for any injuries that may occur? Thank you. Contractor wants to meet onsite to discuss a storm drainage prroblem and ways to correct it. Address: 2741 S Jalen Ct. Home sits below the curb line and has a swale in the backyard; both of which complicate the matter. The neighboring homes are all higher in elevation and drain straight to this property. storm water pipes are clogged and stream bed is eroding. This is on the B-line just west of the rail overpass and across from the new Habitat development. Looks like i'm about to loose a tree to erosion in the storm ditch.

I received this email from Rachel Atz while I was on vacation: "I just spoke with a lady about our dead-end flushing program and she also included that she is having some issues with drainage behind her house and wanted to talk to someone about what she could do to improve it. She said she was willing to pay for it to be fixed, but didn't know what the best solution would be or if she even owned the property/was responsible for it. The fire hydrant on Jordan, between the Delta Gamma house and the parking garage has been open, pouring water into the street all weekend and is still doing so. This is a gross waste of the city's clean water.
