The land that makes up the 14-acre Crestmont Park, and nearby Mills Pool, was purchased by the City of Bloomington Department of Redevelopment in 1967.
The Crestmont Park playground was completely replaced in 2020. The playground is located in the cul-de-sac at West Illinois Court.
An 18-hole disc golf course was established in 2000 by the Bloomington Disc Golf Club. Members of the club have assisted with upkeep over the years by hosting volunteer work days to pick up trash and remove invasive vegetation.
Land and Water Conservation Fund
The picnic area, picnic shelter, trails and walkway, playground, and sport courts were partially funded in 1974 by the Land and Water Conservation Fund through the U.S. Department of Interior and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
