Farmers' Market, Griffy Lake Boathouse Open April 5 for the 2025 Season

Bloomington, Ind.—The 51st season of the Bloomington Community Farmers' Market begins Saturday, April 5 at 8 a.m. at Showers Common, 401 N. Morton St. next to Bloomington's City Hall

The Farmers' Market is open every Saturday, rain or shine, at Showers Common through the end of November. April through September hours are 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The start time moves back an hour in October and November, from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Parking regulations are enforced on Saturdays. Market visitors are invited to park in metered spaces on the streets surrounding the Market for $1 per hour, or in the Trades District or Morton Street parking garages for 50 cents/hour. Free parking is available in the parking lot immediately north of City Hall. Parallel parking spaces along Morton Street are reserved for vehicles displaying a disabled parking permit.

Mayor Kerry Thomson hosts Mayor's Team at the Table on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., kicking off the weekly community outreach program that invites Market-goers to ask questions and discuss areas of interest to the City. Singer/songwriter Nicholas Graham-Hall performs live at the Market's Circular Stage at 9 a.m. and again at 10:30 a.m.

Products anticipated to be for sale at the Market this weekend include a variety of sweet and savory beverages and dishes from food and beverage artisans, plus carrots, radishes, kale, chard, mushrooms, sprouts, microgreens, herbs, meats, cheeses, honey, maple syrup, and eggs from Market vendors

The Griffy Lake Boathouse opens with watercraft rentals and launch permit sales April 5 and 6 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. The boathouse is open on Saturdays and Sundays through the end of April. Boathouse summer hours begin May 1; the boathouse is open daily from May 1 through Aug. 31 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. The boathouse is open through the end of October, with hours shifting from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily in September to weekends only in October.

The boathouse is open rain or shine, but will close temporarily if lightning is in the area, or if the water level in Griffy Lake rises enough to interfere with safe watercraft launching. If the weather is inclement, call the Griffy Lake Boathouse at 812-349-3732 to confirm the hours operation.

Private watercraft at Griffy Lake are limited to electric trolling motors only. Launching is available only at the designated boat ramp east of the boathouse. All privately owned watercraft launching at Griffy Lake, including kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and inflatables, require a boat launch permit. Launch permits are $10/day or $100 for an annual permit, and may be purchased at the boathouse with cash, check or credit card.

Griffy Lake is stocked with bluegill, redear sunfish, largemouth bass, channel catfish, and crappie. A valid Indiana fishing license is required to fish at Griffy Lake. The boathouse does not sell fishing licenses; please purchase a fishing license online or at your favorite fishing supply retailer.
