Korn Parchies Inc., later Bill C. Brown Warranty Deed, on Feb. 17, 1976 leased the property that is now Sherwood Oaks Park to the City of Bloomington. On Dec. 16, 1986, the land for Sherwood Oaks Park was donated to the City by Bill C. Brown, in memory of his business partner Dale Eugene Rubeck. A fire started by arsonists on May 20, 1988 destroyed the original playground equipment, but the playground was replaced later in the year. The 1988 playground was damaged by frequent flooding, and a new playground was installed in its current location in 2009.
