Annexation Information


The City of Bloomington has proposed the annexation of seven urbanized areas just outside the current municipal boundaries. Although these areas may already be part of the Bloomington community, they are not within the City's municipal boundaries at this time. The proposed annexations will allow everyone in the community to be a part of the same future and provide for a more uniform and efficient local government.

The City anticipates that the annexation process will result in enhanced services from the fire and police departments and improvements in street maintenance, transit expansion, proposed high speed fiber to the premises, and programs such as park services.

March 20-25, the City of Bloomington will conduct a series of six public meetings at City Hall to inform and receive input from citizens regarding the proposed annexation plan. These meetings will provide residents with information concerning the proposed boundaries of the seven annexation territories, proposed plans for the extension of services to these territories, and the expected fiscal impact on taxpayers in the annexation areas.


The dates, times and location of the public meetings are as follows:

All meetings will be held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 401 North Morton St., Bloomington, IN 47404. Assistance will be provided for the hearing impaired at each public meeting.
