What is a Neighborhood Greenway?
Neighborhood Greenways are low-speed, low-volume, shared-space streets that support high comfort walking and bicycling connections. Our 2019 Transportation Plan designates several City streets for the design and installation of Neighborhood Greenway facilities as part of the Priority Bicycle Facilities Network. To design and install Neighborhood Greenways, the City follows the Staff-led Traffic Calming and Neighborhood Greenways process.
What should I expect?
Neighborhood Greenways are an important component of the community’s plans to support an improved quality of life and connectivity. Past Neighborhood Greenway projects have shown an increase in the number of people walking, rolling, and bicycling in the area.
Residents may still park and drive on the Neighborhood Greenway. Traffic calming devices such as speed bumps and bump outs reduce the likelihood that drivers will speed on these streets.

2. Neighborhood Greenway Survey Completed

3. First Public Meeting: Project Scope and Objectives - Monday, March 28, 2022
4. Second Public Meeting: Design Review and Feedback - Monday, October 24, 2022
5. Third Public Meeting: Design Review and Feedback - Thursday, December 8, 2022 (Video Recording of Meeting) (PowerPoint)
6. May 31 - June 30, 2023: open comment period.
7. Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Commission Review: Monday, August 14 at 5:30pm
8. September 11, 2023: Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Commission voted 7-0 to approve the design of the greenway.
9. November 28th, 2023: The project was advertised for construction bidding.
10. December 19th, 2023: The Board of Public Works awarded a construction contract to E&B Paving.
11. February 17, 2024: Mayor Thomson hosts public meeting announcing the impending commencement of the project.

On December 19, 2023 at the Board of Public Works meeting this project was awarded to E&B Paving of Bloomington for the amount of $873,378.00.
