Repeated complaints about Seminary Park, most recent #172269 submitted 4/20/20. This park is a very shameful example of how our city is handling (not handling) the homeless/drug population. The mayor should be ashamed of what message it sends that the issue continues with everyone looking the other way. This is a major north/south & east/west travel point.
DAILY I have to deal with this as a working citizen of Bloomington at the Post Office. I know that you know the issues because I call the police at least once/week. Daily, besides the usual littering the park and Post Office parking lot (including mattresses, office desk chairs, tables, etc.) there is suspicious traffic in & out of that park via the Post Office parking lot. Within the past month we have had 5 different instances where someone backed up against the outside of our building to relieve him/herself of #2, then proceeded to smear it all up the wall. Today I witnessed a man walk behind the post office to a little white truck that is there daily with no plates. He handed that person something, then waved and walked away. Several people came from the park up to his window, went back in the park, then came back to the truck. Didn't appear to be just chit-chat. A transaction had been made for sure. And, what about a few Fridays ago when someone provided the park a nice big bbq complete with a huge grill that was brought in. Are grills and full-sized tents allowed to be brought into a city park?? They were there that day! This brought a huge crowd filling that park and creating a big scene. They trashed the park, the Post Office parking lot, and the area in front of the Post Office by the street. Both our custodian and your city employees are using a lot of resources & money to clean up after that population. Mayor Hamilton, you out to be ashamed of our city right now! This is not the Bloomington it used to be and you're looking the other way. I do not feel safe going to my job to make a decent living because I have been approached by these people and our customers have been approached. When election time rolls around again I will be paying very close attention to which candidate has plans to clean up our city.

Homeless people sleeping in Switchyard park. 7-10-20 a man in a sleeping bag was in the amphitheater. My sons therapist found him as she was taking a client in there to look around. I thought police was keeping the homeless out of the park?

The pan handlers standing on every corner with their homeless sign in Bloomington is getting out of hand. I manage a bank and they watch when we get our shipment of money in and watch the replacement of ATM canisters, I believe they should not be able to watch a banks or and other business to be able to steak out a business. Years ago Regions was robbed and that is how he steak the bank out to rob. Most of the our drug users and the leave their trash and damage our personal property. It is time you put a stop to all the pan handling. Any time the police see someone pan handling arrest and book them. What money they have earned from pan handling confiscate it and that is their fee for breaking the law of pan handling.

At the tree line behind my house and garage, there has been inches of water standing since around Thursday or Friday. I have lived here for 30 years and have never seen the water standing like this. I believe something has happened at the house behind the trees and draining down into my yard. The house had had issues of the homeless in and out of there and I am deeply concerned about the damage to my, and my neighbor's yards. Please advise
Unsafe Buildings
1305 S Park AVE

There is an unsafe structure at 1305 S. Park Ave. A family is living in a truck with a makeshift camper built onto the back. There appears to be power ran from the house to the camper. Children are also living outside the residence as well. I understand wanting to help the homeless however, this does not appear to be a safe environment for this family if a fire were to break out from cooking food or an electrical fire.
Excessive Growth
410 S Walnut St, Bloomington, IN 47401, USA

This overgrowth is right behind my business at 418 S. Walnut St. and is becoming a bit excessive. Not only is it overgrown, but many of the trees have heavy limbs that are surrounding electric wires leading to building and I or my customers are in danger of parking under these areas. Also, the area has become extremely littered with trash, homeless sleeping and congregating within the overgrowth and I've found many syringes/caps while trying to clean up the 418 property which ends at the wall here. This also has lead to more trash and debris clogging up a drain that is behind the Players Pub business and is becoming unsightly. What I would like to see is this entire hill cleaned up and trees removed and planted with grass. Please let me know of any questions or concerns with getting this taken care of. Thank you.

The next door building just north of my building has been boarded up since I've been in my current location since October and has now seemed to have part of the back wood torn apart and a hold has been opened up for what I'm guessing in entrance/exit for the ever growing number of homeless in my area that are probably squatting inside for shelter at night. I've heard that this building was overpopulated with homeless last year until it was boarded up and fenced off. They use the slats of wood you see to the hole to the to 'close' when they're not there and then a piece of wood on the interior from the inside at night. Not only is the building an eyesore for the area, but the amount of homeless trekking through the alley and hanging out behind and beside my business is increasing and unsafe. I have customers, children and family that park in the back parking lot and I do not feel safe having them park there with this building being opened back up by the homeless to do whatever they're doing in there. Actually, I'd love to just see the building demolished. If there's anything that I can fill out to request that, please let me. Thank you and please feel free to contact me with any questions!

There is a homeless camp located between Old SR 37 and North Walnut, just north of 45. The entrance is on Old 37 as you head down into Lower Cascades Park. I witnessed multiple individuals entering the area on Saturday afternoon.
With a social distancing guidelines in place, it seems like an encampment is a disaster waiting to happen.
