Hi, it's Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton, and on behalf of all of the employees of the City of Bloomington, I just want to express our best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving season and the following holiday season. We hope that you will enjoy with your families a great Thanksgiving season. Our best wishes to you.
Now, here are a couple of updates for you to know. We do as usual over Thanksgiving, have the lighting of the square downtown the Friday evening after Thanksgiving, and then there's a special event on Saturday morning after Thanksgiving. We're renaming the Showers Plaza in honor of former Mayor John Fernandez. So at 10 a.m. on Saturday, a free public ceremony; if you'd like to come down to rededicate that to Fernandez Plaza, please join us.
Secondly, we're going to put in place the special parking rules that we often do for the holidays. So for Thanksgiving (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), there will be free parking downtown on the street and in the garages. And then every Saturday through the holiday season, through New Year's, free parking in all the city garages. We can get the details to you, and you can always get them on the website. We're encouraging you to be able to get downtown and about for your holiday activity. So let me say again, on behalf of all 800 of us here at city government, we wish you and yours a terrific Thanksgiving and the rest of the holiday season.
We look forward to continuing to serve you going forward.
