Contacted complainant, explaining that Transit Center restrooms periodically get closed to protect public health until maintenance arrives for cleaning due to overflowing toilets and other unsavory public acts.

We apologize for the inconvenience of closed public restrooms. Lately, there have been instances where the attendant has closed it to keep the public safe from human bodily substances until maintenance persons are able to arrive from the garage and clean thoroughly. Unfortunately, some patrons have been clogging toilets with unwanted items such as small liquor bottles, leading to overflowing toilets. Others have been placing personal waste matter on objects other than the inside of the toilet bowls. From our experience, closing the restrooms in such hazardous states prevents the spread of such hazards into the waiting area and buses.
